What are Plantation Shutters?

Plantation shutters are easy to see and are called plantation shutters because many owners are more familiar with the concept of blinds as a window treatment. We are here to highlight the differences between the blinds and the blinds of the plantations.

Characteristics of plantation style shutters
The most distinctive features of plantation shutters include the permanent frame around the window, and the shutter panel has mobile shutters inside of 4 stationary sides. These solid blinds are controlled by a tilt rod, a vertical pole that moves all the blinds when you move the pole, and they provide privacy, light and temperature control while adding a modern touch to the room.

Sizes of blinds
Instead of a blind "lamella", the blinds of the plantations have blinds that are attached to a frame and can help block the heat or cold when they are closed. The shutter shutters usually come in 3 sizes: 4.5 "(more view), 3.5" (traditional size), 2.5 "(smaller model). No matter how large you choose for your window, the blinds are easy tilting for allowing lighter and vision thanks to the tilt rod. The standard tilt rods are mounted on the front. We also offer the option of a back tilt or hidden tilt rod if desired.

Hardware options
Thanks to its high-quality materials, most plantation shutters last much longer than blinds. The best-selling planting blinds in the United States are Polywood® blinds. They are made of a synthetic wood material that does not bend or crack. The most traditional plantation shutters, such as our Ovation® shutters, are made of hard softwood lumber. Quality planting blinds do not sway or break, no matter how many times you tilt them to open or close them.

Modern appearance
With largely adjustable blinds and a sturdy material, plantation shutters combine functionality and aesthetics. Its appearance is enhanced by the wide variety of paints and stains available. Combine the decoration of the room with custom paints for Plywood. Or go with a wood stain to highlight the depth of Ovation's shutters.

Easy cleaning
The delicate leaves of the blinds are a problem with the dust. On the other hand, the blinds of the plantations are easy to clean. Every 3-4 weeks, remove the dust from the blinds from top to bottom. And clean all stains with a damp cloth. Cleaning the window shutters is as quick and easy as it seems.

Energy efficiency
Yes, the blinds are another layer between the exterior and you. But its thin material and its lack of fit are not ideal for blocking the effects of weather. On the other hand, plantation shutters are known for their energy efficiency. Plywood shutters block up to 30 ° C and reduce heat transfer by up to 45%. That's what makes Plywood blinds the most energy-efficient window treatment!

Custom Shape
The blinds are made for a window shape: Rectangle. But everyone knows that some of their favourite windows in their home are not rectangular. They could have the shape of a circle, an octagon, a triangle. Or the window could even be in a door. This is where the blinds of the plantations come in.

Our local professionals measure every corner, corner and inch of your window so we can manufacture your plantation shutters specifically for that. Now you can finally have a window cover that does not sacrifice the shape of the window you like.
